Release2026-10-23

GitHub released a new Teams app. It combines notifications with Copilot. Users can @mention GitHub to act on issues. Copilot investigates, fixes bugs and creates pull requests. Teams can review, test and merge fixes inside Teams. The app replaces the legacy GitHub notifications app. The legacy app will be renamed and retired on 16 November 2026. Existing notification features continue to work. Users must update to the latest version to use Copilot in Teams.

What changed

GitHub notifications in Teams did not include Copilot for turning issues into pull requests.

What it unlocks

Turning a Teams notification about a GitHub issue into a pull request without leaving the chat.

What you need to act on it

  • the new GitHub app in Teams
  • a connected GitHub account
  • a selected repository
