Survey2026-10-01

Eighty-two percent of consumers say data security matters most in AI shopping. Seventy-seven percent want clarity on how their data is used. Over half trust AI shopping agents from brands they already use. Consumers are more likely to trust AI for low-stakes tasks than expensive purchases. Three-quarters would stop or pause using AI if it buys wrong items without checking. Sixty percent would do the same if it recommends poor products. Three-quarters would shop less or stop with a brand after a bad AI recommendation. Brands should monitor transactions and keep humans in the loop for high-risk actions. They should also provide clear remediation paths for mistakes. The survey covered 2,000 U.S. consumers.

  • 82% prioritize data security in AI shopping
  • 77% want clarity on data use
  • 75% would stop using AI if it buys wrong items
  • 60% would stop if AI recommends poor products
