Pricing2026-08-12

Forrester's analysis of Anthropic's May 2026 pricing change says seat fees have been split from usage charges, so customers now pay a lower monthly price per person plus metered charges for what they consume. Automation tools and agent-driven work draw on separate monthly credits that expire and do not carry over, and previous API discounts are gone. Forrester reports client complaints that heavy users will pay significantly more.

What changed

A flat per-seat subscription, at $200 or $40 per user per month, included most usage with a 10-15% API discount.

What it unlocks

Lower entry seat prices, with automation and agent usage billed separately through monthly credits.

  • $200/user/month to $20 for Claude Code
  • $40/user/month to $10 for Claude.ai
  • API discounts 10-15% to none

What you need to act on it

  • monthly Agent SDK credits that expire and do not roll over
  • a usage forecast agreed at contract signing
