OpenAI is building a hosted agent service for its developer platform, according to code found in its API site. TestingCatalog reports the feature is called Managed Agents. The interface would let people create agents and environments, then manage them. It would also allow specific skills and plugins to be switched on. One screen suggests the agents can run in self-hosted setups. The design closely follows what Anthropic already sells as Claude Managed Agents. OpenAI has not opened access to the interface. Separately, the code points to advertising in ChatGPT that resolves to an agent rather than a plain informational answer. That agent would then guide the user through the purchase. OpenAI holds DevDay in San Francisco on 29 September, where model updates and security products are also expected.
