An Anthropic researcher is leaving the artificial-intelligence industry over safety fears. Jacob Coxon said Tuesday that he is quitting the company. He works on training new models by feeding them very large amounts of data. He does not want to take part in an industry race toward self-improving systems. He said such systems could spiral out of human control and destroy humanity. The Wall Street Journal reports that safety concerns are rising inside leading AI labs. Competition is pushing companies to build models that improve themselves. Anthropic has not publicly responded in the report.
