Release2026-10-05

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Atlas, a web browser with ChatGPT built in. Atlas lets users run ChatGPT in the same window as their browsing. It can remember site context and past chats to help with new tasks. Browser memories are optional and user-controlled. Agent mode in Atlas can now research, automate tasks and plan events while browsing. Atlas launched on macOS to Free, Plus, Pro, Go and beta Business users. Enterprise and Edu users can access it if their admin enables it. Windows, iOS and Android versions are coming soon. Users can import bookmarks, passwords and history from their current browser. Parental controls from ChatGPT carry over to Atlas. Agent mode in Atlas is in preview and may make mistakes. Safeguards prevent code execution, file downloads and extension installs. Agent mode pauses on sensitive sites like financial institutions.
