Google is reportedly in advanced talks to license technology from Mechanize and hire some of its staff in a deal worth more than $1.5 billion, according to Business Insider. Mechanize builds training environments and benchmarks intended to make software-writing AI agents handle longer, messier projects. Nothing has been signed or announced, and both companies declined to comment.
What changed
Mechanize was last valued at $500 million after a small April funding round, and Google's prior coding-talent deal was the Windsurf licensing agreement.
