DeepSeek plans to install at least 160,000 of Huawei's top AI accelerators in a new data center. The site is being built in Inner Mongolia. That would form one of the largest known clusters of Huawei AI chips. DeepSeek intends to use Huawei's next-generation Ascend 950DT chips to run its models. It does not currently plan to use them for training, one person said. Huawei designed and marketed the 950DT for that harder training work. DeepSeek tried training earlier models on Huawei chips but has relied on Nvidia for that step. The installation timeline depends on how much Huawei can produce. Bloomberg attributes the plan to people familiar with the matter.
