Survey2026-09-21

ACI Worldwide surveyed over 3,300 U.S. and UK consumers. Only 7% would let an AI assistant buy without approval. 53% are uncomfortable with AI making purchases. 14% would require manual approval for every AI purchase. Consumers value AI for finding deals and surfacing options. They still want to make the final purchase decision themselves. Privacy and trust concerns remain high. Retailers can build loyalty by embedding useful AI features. These include order tracking, return management and price comparisons. AI in fashion works best as a curator of options. It should explain why one choice is better than another.
