The UK will add £120 million to its AI Security Institute. This alone exceeds the US CAISSI annual budget by over ten times. The UK also plans £60 million for a sovereign AI fund. It will spend £18 million on homegrown chip design. The UK will allocate £10 million yearly to study AI’s employment impact. The UK institute has over 100 staff from major AI labs and intelligence agencies. The US CAISSI was renamed to remove the word 'safety'. The US CAISSI currently lacks a permanent director. The White House requested $27 million for CAISSI in FY2027. A bipartisan US bill proposes $100 million yearly for CAISSI through 2029.
