Nvidia told investors that chip supply shortages are capping its revenue growth. Executives gave the warning on an August 26 earnings call. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said the company has secured supply for 70% revenue growth next fiscal year. That still falls short of what customers want to buy. The shortages run across memory, silicon and data centre construction suppliers. Finance chief Colette Kress expects the gap to persist through the fiscal year ending in early 2028. She said memory prices have risen more than Nvidia expected and will rise further. Nvidia has raised its committed purchases sharply and is working with three major memory suppliers. Dell and HPE have also faced longer waits for AI servers because of the same crunch.

What changed

Nvidia's supply commitments stood at $119 billion at the end of the prior quarter.

  • supply commitments $119B to $279B
  • 70% revenue growth expected FY2028
