GitHub's August update for Copilot in Visual Studio 2026 lets organization and enterprise owners publish custom agents that work across all their repositories, and adds a control for how much reasoning effort a model spends on a task. A Git agent can now review uncommitted changes or commits before a pull request, with findings shown inline. The update reaches every Copilot plan, including the free tier.
