Microsoft announced Project Zenith, a preconfigured Windows 11 setup for developers. It ships on machines with at least 64 GB of shared memory and high memory bandwidth. Such machines can run large coding models on the device rather than in the cloud. Microsoft says this cuts reliance on metered cloud usage. Windows Terminal and Visual Studio Code come pinned to the taskbar. File Explorer, Search and Start are pre-set for coding, with tips and notifications off. The devices arrive first with AMD's Ryzen AI Halo chips. More hardware partners follow in the coming months. Developers can still reconfigure the environment as they prefer. The devices also carry Microsoft's agent security features, including its execution containers.
