Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs will build a licensed AI music creation platform together. Users will be able to draw on UMG's catalogue to make remixes, mashups and new versions of tracks. UMG announced the multi-year licensing agreement on Thursday. Artists can choose whether their work takes part. The platform will stay separate from ElevenLabs' existing Music API and ElevenMusic generator. Both companies say further products and fan experiences will follow, without giving detail. ElevenLabs chief executive Mati Staniszewski said artists and songwriters would be fairly compensated. UMG already has AI deals with Udio, Spotify, Nvidia and Klay. Suno released its first model trained on licensed songs from Warner Music Group and others this week.
