Deepgram is acquiring Daily, the maker of Pipecat. Pipecat is an open-source framework for real-time voice and video agents. Daily also provides hosted infrastructure for voice and video calls. Deepgram will keep Pipecat open source. The deal lets Deepgram add orchestration for agents and speech systems. Deepgram also launched Real-Time Context Standard with the Pipecat team. The protocol defines metadata for voice agents. Both companies were in the same Y Combinator batch in 2016. Daily had raised over $62 million before the acquisition. Deepgram reached unicorn status earlier this year.
What changed
Daily and Deepgram operated as separate companies.
What it unlocks
Deepgram can now integrate Pipecat’s real-time voice and video orchestration into its own stack.
- $62M raised by Daily to date
- $130M Series C for Deepgram at $1.3B valuation
