Anoma released OpenCode 2.0 as a major overhaul. The server now runs automatically as a single background process. All interfaces connect to this central process. The API was rebuilt from scratch to support nearly any agent task. OpenCode can now call its own API to manage sessions and worktrees. A new client package supports JavaScript and Effect. Code Mode lets agents write and run scripts using MCP servers. Background sub-agents and shell commands run without blocking the main agent. Plugins are now stable and total over 80. The SDK allows building custom OpenCode versions. Upgrading requires running a command or downloading the latest desktop app. Some changes are breaking and 1.0 plugins will not work.
